The first time I remember saying I wanted to be a veterinarian was in middle school when the “what are going to be when you grow up” question suddenly felt much more real. Like many of my peers I’ve always loved animals and found this career would be the perfect fit; combining puzzle solving, science, and time with animals. Then, in high school I began shadowing at my local clinic and never looked back.

I’m an Ohio native, but when I graduated high school I built a new home and community in Starkville, MS where I attended Mississippi State University. After 8 amazing years, I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Some of my fondest memories from this time were made with my classmates who became lifelong friends as we took on countless “firsts”, performed after hours treatments, and finally felt ourselves getting closer to the dream we’d been holding onto for so long. My favorite rotation was with our shelter medicine group who provide low-cost spay/neuter programs to the local community and rescue groups. I actually enjoyed my time with them and their mission so much that I returned for two extra rotations! They developed in me a love for soft tissue surgery and someday I hope to return to their field of medicine.

I’m so grateful to have found Twin Maples, and to have been welcomed by the amazing, hardworking staff that works here. The level of experience and comradery amongst their team was evident from my first visit and I’m excited to continue to grow with their mentorship.

In my free time I love to get outside and move, but I also appreciate settling in with a good book and my cat. As I settle in, I’m looking forward to spending more time exploring national parks, attending shows, visiting friends spread across the country, and being closer to family.
